Fan Art for Dungeon Legacy

FAN ART SNEAK ATTACK! This is a drawing of Karlaia, a Tiefling Wizard, from the webcomic Dungeon Legacy by George Ward (aka DungeonWarden), and like Epic Fail it is also based on Dungeons & Dragons, but the more modern 4th Edition variety.

‘Saving the world one Dungeon at a time’ since 2008, Dungeon Legacy boasts 7 Chapters and is fast approaching 200 pages! It’s drawn in a niave, somewhat medieval style that not everybody will like but is very clear from a storytelling perspective and fits the genre.

If you enjoy flicking through the Monster Manual to see what weird and wonderful creatures it contains you will not be disappointed; the heroes encounter many monsters including Giants, Vampires, Drow, Displacer Beasts, Lizard Men, and many more. The story concentrates on the fantasy races and exploring their worlds –  there are six main characters and not a human amongst ’em!

Birthday Guest Art 2

Yesterday was my Birthday and this is a present I was given by George Ward aka DungeonWarden of Dungon Legacy. His comic, like mine, is based on D&D but has been running for a lot longer. In this picture Karlaia and Arlina are handing Amuletts a gift. I wonder what’s inside? Hmm, that box is too big for a Deck of Many Things, perhaps it’s a Bag of Holding. Amuletts is very fond of her extra-dimensional spaces. Then again it could be full of gems!! Well, whatever it is, lets hope Amuletts does not floccinaucinihilipilificate* it.

TGT Webcomics also wished me a Happy Birthday on their podcast, so you should check that out too.

*This is one of the longest words in the English language and since discovering it I’ve wanted an excuse to use it. It means “The act or habit of describing or regarding something as worthless.”

Interview with Reiki Director Pedro Chaves

Director Pedro Chaves takes the hot seat and tells us all about his new movie Reiki!

Tell me about Reiki the Movie; what’s it about?

Reiki is a low budget action-fantasy feature film from Belgium. It tells the story of Vann and Hansel who awaken in a destroyed factory in the middle of nowhere with no memories of who they are… EXCEPT flashbacks from 400 years ago! During their exploration of the factory they meet Reisha, a girl who’s been running away from a group called “The Order”, witch-hunters that have been hunting witches since the dawn of time. Reisha tells Vann and Hansel that their flashbacks are true, they are memories of their past lives! Now Vann and Hansel must try to figure out who they are, why they awakened in this forgotten place, and survive their fight against the Order whilst protecting Reisha!

Sounds Exciting! Now, (if it’s not too much of a spoiler) why is the film called Reiki? Isn’t that a kind of massage?

Yeah, I heard that Reiki was a kind of Japanese massage; funnily enough when we started production nobody knew and it was just afterwards that some people told us. Actually there are some things alike between the movie Reiki and the Reiki massage (though very small).
Reiki is the name of the sword in the movie. The Reiki sword is a special sword that can cut the astral line of a human being, which means when a person is killed with the Reiki sword they won’t be able to reincarnate anymore,  thus they meet a true and absolute death.
The name of the sword has an hidden meaning, but if I told you it would be a huge spoiler!

Character Sheet style Resume

Resume Character Sheet

This is a Character Sheet style Resume by Sean McNally.  He’s a pretty good artist actually.  You can find page 2 here.  I’m not sure what role-play system it’s based on, if it’s D&D then it’s a different system to the one I play.

If this is the resume just imagine the interview!  I think it would go something like this:

“Mr. McNally?”

Before the man even rose to his feet the interviewer could pin-point him with ease.  He had piggy-eyes, sagging skin and large tusks protruding from his lower jaw.  In one hand he was holding a wacom tablet as if it were a shield, its cable trailing uselessly, and in the other he weilded a .07mm Pacer, its thin tower of lead doing a good impersonation of a filthy hyperdermic.  The interviewer took a step backwards as he lumbered towards her.

“W-won’t you go through to my office please?”

Surfacescapes – Surface table-top Role-playing

Right now the Surfacescapes project is creating a prototype for playing tabletop role-playing games (RPGs) on the Microsoft Surface Table.  And they’re starting with D&D.  They released a demo (shown above) on Vimeo on Oct 18th 2009.  It’s generated quite a buzz.  Is there a geek alive that doesn’t want to play with this puppy?  This is a real big boy’s toy, a DM’s wet dream.  Or is it?
