Pg 86: Oh Look! A Distraction!

This week in Epic Fail: Tinuvielle distracts Yoru from his awkward questions by (dramatically) explaining interrupting Martin’s story was bad manners. With a rapt audience Martin continues the fiery tale of his adventures with demons.

Webcomic Creator’s Commentary:

I love Tinuvielle’s hammy acting, the throwing up her arm and the “Woe! Woe!” I hope you found it as funny as I did. I’m nearly finished with the Elven Pussy now. Nearly.

Poor Martin does have a tendency to do what he’s told without thinking it through. In other news: Fire burns. Yes I did reference Labyrinth in the comic, not so much a tribute to the late David Bowie so much as because it’s my favourite movie so I possibly reference it too much.  This joke may have been inspired by the Amanda Palmer Labyrinth with Sock Puppets version though.

You know that red thing the characters are standing on in panels 5 and 7? That is a platform painted with a symbol of chaos and you only keep seeing a fraction of it.  I seem to keep redrawing the entire thing because I’m a dumb, dumb artist who wants it to be accurate and like making life hard on myself. Grr.

What I’m not too happy about is that big gap on the left og panel 7 actually. I think maybe you should see the second demon or some of the other adventurers standing there. Hmm, editing may occur.

Sorry I’ve not been playing Dungeons & Dragons so much lately as the One Night Ultimate Werewolf card game and it’s game expansion Daybreak. We just intend to play a few hands then get to the D&D but end up playing Werewolf the entire evening *guilty face*. It’s true.

Pg 79: God Questions

This week in Epic Fail: Yoru is very interested when Tinuvielle reveals Amuletts met a God. He goes to Martin to find out more.

Creator’s Commentary: Is it me or is Yoru a little taller..?

Upcoming pages are going to be crazy, because Martin has a crazy story to tell. Well it has Loki in it, God of Chaos, so what did you expect?

Yep, deviating from the ‘Main Plot’ again. That’s just something I tease you with 😉

Sorry about the lazy background.

Pg 78: At least he’s not asking about the birds & bees

This week in Epic Fail: Yoru has lots of questions about Gods, the afterlife, good and evil. Tinuvielle learns it’s hard to be a parent, particularly to a demon!

Creator’s Commentary:I’m so glad to get a new page up. Slow and steady…

I’ve started teaching private art classes in Oxford, which are going great.  My students tell me they are enjoying them immensely and learning ‘an incredible amount.’ YAY! We’ve just finished a six week drawing course and are moving on to acrylic painting.

I’m feeling a little jet-lagged after the clocks changed for the autumn ‘Fall Back.’ Sleep schedule all out of whack. Anyone else feel this way?

BONUS 07: Summer Special 2013

Here it is – the 2013 summer special with all the Epic Fail characters in their swimsuits. This was supposed to go up on the 1st but a combination of migraine and going overboard on the shading delayed it until now.

This is part of the United Webcomics Summer Special where you can go and see many webcomics characters sporting their swimwear. Check it out (you can even see the above image a little larger).

So… would anyone like this as a wallpaper? I will send one to donations of $1 or more. I could use the money as I’m having to move house again!

Look! I’m in a Card Game!

It’s arrived! I pre-ordered the WAGON Webcomic Battle ‘Geek Deck’ and it’s finally here with six cards illustrated by yours truly. They’re great cards with cool powers that trow a little chaos into the game 😉

epic-fail-in-wagon-webcomic-battle-cardgame

The Geek Deck is themed around the power of the Geek, which is to combine the forces of deceptively weak-looking characters and use unothodox strategy to overcome seemingly unbeatable opponents. Truly in this dawn of a new begining, the Geek shall inherit the Earth.

The Geek Deck includes cards from the webcomics:

AdrastusEpic Fail (that’s me!)Cartridge
Zorphbert & FredSilent PirateEvil Plan

I’m really proud to share a project with such an amazing group of creators!

Now lets look at the cards:

Pg 74: Censorship

This week in Epic Fail: Martin thows a bucket of water over Amuletts’ and Tinuvielle’s heads, not because he hasn’t noticed the fire is already out, but to put an end to their argument. The women start to take off their wet clothes but Dirk covers up their nudity with a ‘Censorship’ sign he just happens to have on him.

Creator’s Commentary: Personally I’m against censorship (now’t wrong with a bit of nudity) but I’m quite happy to use it as a joke because I think it’s something a Paladin would entirely approve of.

From an art perspective I’m quite pleased with the water pouring down but the background is poor. It looks like they’re floating somewhere in the planets outer atmosphere :s Sorry… will fix at some point.

While you’re here let me draw your attention to United Webcomics Walpurgisnacht Project, a sort of webcomics art swap themed around “Witches Night”. Great fun, check it out!

Pg 73: Hot Elf on Elf

This week in Epic Fail: She’s not saying that she did, but Amuletts might have set fire to Tinuvielle’s bed to stop her from learning new spells.

Creator’s Commentary: I like the visual humour in this one a lot. The dialogue is not particularly amusing but the visuals make me chuckle. At least I’m making myself laugh with these comics!

It’s interesting using the night-time color palette. Is it too dark or can you see everything okay?

Pg 72: Camp Fire

This week in Epic Fail: Tinuvielle’s bed mysteriously catches fire and Amuletts jumps to the rescue.

Creator’s Commentary: No it’s not an April fool – it really is a new update! My first night-time scene; I hope you like the color palette.

I’m very sorry for the long wait, I know it’s even worse than my usual ‘schedule.’ I have been having big problems with my Graphics Tablet & Windows 8 that just don’t seem to play nice together. I’ve already changed my tablet once, because the old one would not work at all, and would consider doing it again only I hear very good, expensive tablets are having similar troubles so I’m just not sure if it’s worth it – there’s a good chance it would not solve the problem. At the moment my mouse is more sensitive than my tablet, which is a sad state of affairs to be in.

Hmm, perhaps I should just upload in black & white for a while until my Tablet problems are sorted out. I have 3 more pages inked. I dunno. I don’t like doing half a job.

Pg 71: Intimidation Check

This week in Epic Fail: Tinuvielle threatens Amuletts with mime (now that is scary).

Creator’s Commentary: Before you ask, yes, Tinuvielle actually did this during a D&D game. It wasn’t just the one time either. It was actually pretty intimidating.

Is it me or does the sky look like a lava pit from hell? It’s supposed to be a sunset. Think I should tone it down?

Adobe’s ‘Free Photoshop CS2 Release’ = Epic Fail!

Recently Adobe made Creative Suite 2 available to download, complete with serial number but without requiring activation. Included were applications Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Elements, Premier Pro, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro and GoLive – available individually or as part of the CS2 bundle. Shortly thereafter the news broke that Adobe was giving away their 10-year-old software for free! It seemed like a late Christmas present.

Well apparently it isn’t. Adobe released an official statement to say:

You have heard wrong! Adobe is absolutely not providing free copies of CS2!
