10 More Amazing Origami Dragons

You’ve seen 10 Amazing Origami Dragons? Well this is 10 MORE Amazing Origami Dragons!

I am delighted to make another list of beautiful and impressive Origami Dragons and include those designs I couldn’t fit into the first one. Again this is just a list, not a ‘top ten,’ because I just don’t think it would be fair to rank them; they are all beautiful and original in their own right.

1. 3-Headed Red Dragon

‘Pure’ Origami made from a single piece of by 120cmX120cm paper by Dragon Knight 2.0 on Flickr where you can see more pictures of this dragon plus more they have made. It is incredible! Who would have thought it was possible to make a triple-headed dragon from a single piece of paper? And the heads are so detailed and expressive. This really is a masterpiece!

10 Amazing Origami Dragons

10 amazing origami dragons for you to enjoy! This is just a list, not a ‘top ten,’ because I just don’t think it would be fair to rank them – they are all amazing! Which are your favourites?

The names I have used are those given them by the artists.

1. Grand Dragon

This amazing origami dragon is by Joseph Wu whose work I have featured before. It is called the Grand Dragon and is made out of six pieces of folded paper which is apparently dark orange – not red!

How to Make Origami Dragons (Video Tutorials)

How to Make an Origami Dragon
Origami Dragon photo by awrose on Flickr

I did a blog post a long time ago about D&D Fantasy Miniatures – In Origami! It was pretty popular and I was asked for instructions on how to make an Origami Dragon. Well ask and yee shall receive – eventually!

I’ve put together a playlist of video tutorials for Origami Dragons all by jonakashima and tadashimori. I’ve put them in order of length, so the first one is the shortest and simplest to make (6 minutes) and the last one is the longest and most complicated (about 2 hours). So the tutorials go from Beginner to Advanced, and you can pick which you want to do based on your level of skill – or work through them all!

The Origami Dragon Tutorials are embedded below or you can click here to view the playlist.

Also, here are a couple of simple origami dragon diagrams both based on a bird base, one standing, one in flight.

I hope this is useful and you’ll soon be making an army of fire-breathing monsters out of paper. Only don’t actually make them breath fire as it’s incredibly bad for their health!

Oh and if you do make any of these I would so LOVE to see your pics!

D&D Fantasy Miniatures – in Origami!

Origami Goblin - Fantasy Gaming Miniature by Joseph WuDungeons and Dragons is a role-play game – a game of the imagination – so most of the action goes on inside your head; however, in a big, confusing battle visual repressentation can be useful. Among other things, it stops the characters from spontaneously teleporting from one side of the room to the other (without the use of a spell)! Aside from that it’s nice to see what you’re up against once in a while, to react in genuine horror as the GM reveals the hideous visage of the monster you have to fight (even if it is only 3cm high).

But miniatures are expensive, right? WRONG! You’ve got a piece of paper haven’t you? Well then – get folding and you can have your very own miniature army for mere cost of a bajillion papercuts!
