Cameo Catch-Up

Last year I missed a couple of Cameos so I thought I’d take this opportunity to play catch-up and show that I appreciate them.

Tinuvielle Cameo in LOVEFEASTFirst up Tinuvielle appeared in LOVEFEAST, hanging out in the Institute for Training in the Arts of Death and cheering on ‘delicious conflict.’  Well well, isn’t she a dark horse?

LOVEFEAST is a webcomic by Senshuu about former mortals training to become Shinigami: Gods of Death!  The characters are learning to cope with their extraordinary new powers and responsibilities whilst struggling to retain their humanity.  They are just starting their journey and it’s sure to be an interesting ride!  LOVEFEAST is an adult comic and has adult themes delivered with a smidgen of dry humour.  Interesting and worth checking out.

Amuletts Cameo in Dungeon Legacy

Next we have Amuletts turning up in Dungeon Legacy tucked behind Minos the Minotaur there.  She’s checking out a trial (probably hoping to see the law perverted) along with characters from several other webcomics credited here.

Dungeon Legacy by George Ward (aka Dungeon Warden) is, like Epic Fail, is based on Dungeons and Dragons and has been running for, oh, simply ages. It’s a comic I enjoy and have read almost all of it.  Dungeon Legacy actually gets on with the story instead of telling stupid jokes!  There’s a lesson in there somewhere…

Thanks to everyone in the wonderful webcomics community who have supported Epic Fail and done such great Fan Art and Cameos.  It really made my first year a good one.  That’s right – Epic Fail is one year old tomorrow! Granted I haven’t updated every week of that year… but I started on January 9th and it’s almost January 9th again.  Hurrah!

Pg 34: Running Gag

This week in Epic Fail: Dirk is becoming bored of shopping but reluctant to leave Amuletts. He makes a slip of the tongue and is mocked for it. When Amuletts makes an innuendo he flees.

Creator’s Commentary: Yes this is Epic Fail’s first running gag.  It’s a gag about running.

I made a typo and this strip happened, with due influence from my own experience of tongue-slips.  Very funny, very embarrassing and oh so true.  “Lave” means to soothe as if by washing, never to be confused with lathe which is a woodworking tool for cutting or sanding.

More Fan Art from Children of the Tiger!

kishandren_amulettsPurenightshade drew me this wonderful cross-over piece of Amuletts and her character Kishandren showing off in their gorgeous red dresses, as worn by Amuletts here and Kishandren here.  Together I’m sure they’ll turn heads!

You should check out her comic, Children of the Tiger, because it’s totally cool and stuff.  Right now it’s heroes are preparing for an elaborate deception and a daring rescue!

CAPTION:

Amuletts: “You stole my clothes!  Now I have to wear this!

(If the joke is too obscure I refer you to Kishandren’s previous cos-play. Coincidence that Amuletts has not been seen it those clothes since it happened?  I think not)!

Pg 33: Just Hop Along

This week in Epic Fail: Amuletts is shopping with Dirk (who’s a bit bored) and is aghast to discover her minion, Andy Roid, is so overloaded with shopping that he cannot carry her latest acquisition!  Or can he?

Creator’s Commentary: I had dialogue scripted for this, but decided it wasn’t necessary, the visuals say everything.  Well, enough to tell my very silly joke.

At this point I cannot resist quoting Red Dwarf:

Rimmer: I never agreed with my parents’ religion, but I wouldn’t dream of knocking it.
Lister: What were they?
Rimmer: Seventh Day Advent Hop-ists. They believed that every Sunday should be spent hopping. They would hop to church, hop through the service, then hop back home again. I tell you, Sunday lunchtimes were a nightmare – we all had to wear sou’westers and asbestos underpants. You see, they took the Bible literally – Adam and Eve, the snake and the apple, took it word for word. Unfortunately, their version had a misprint. It was all based on 1 Corinthians 13: “Faith, Hop and Charity, and the greatest of these is Hop.”

Anyone think Andy might be a closet Hop-ist?

Pg 32: Oo, Denied!

This week in Epic Fail: Amuletts propositions Dirk. The chaste Paladin is having none of it.

Creator’s Commentary: Finally got it done!  Now to sleep Zz zzz…

Guest Art for Shadowgirls

Check out this guest art I did for the webcomic Shadowgirls. Amuletts may be drunk but at least her chat up line’s original!

Drunken Amuletts trying to hide in a Shadowgirl

Pg 31: Adorably Chivalrous

This week in Epic Fail: Dirk goes to see Amuletts to ask if he can accompany her on her ‘shopping’ trip.  He believes she will simply steal what she wants if he is not there to supervise.  Amuletts interprets his concern as adorably chivalrous.

Creator’s Commentary: I actually drew this page a while back, when Tinuvielle had just met Yoru, but then I realised there were explanations needed that could not wait.  So this page got moved back.

A lot of the comic so far has been just talking, and I keep trying to think of new ways to make the frames interesting.  Having the characters do something whilst they talk is one way, so here we have Amuletts applying her make-up.  Yes – it’s different than normal, she does that occasionally.  Not to mention I wanted to show that it is make-up an not a permanent tattoo.  She always favours red and black colours because they are the colours of Loki.

Fan Art from Children of The Tiger

Kishandren_as_Amuletts_by_purenightshade

purenightshade of Children of the Tiger drew this lovely piece of Fan Art as part of her big Halloween art project.  You see Halloween is her favorite holiday, so every day from Oct1st to 31st she’s drawing one of her characters in Cosplay!  Today it’s Kishandren as Amuletts. Receiving it really cheered me up!

Check out purenightshade’s Deviantart Gallery to see what other characters her cast has cosplayed and suggest what they might dress up as next!

Her webcomic is one I follow regularly and you will find me a frequent commenter.  The story follows five Dragon Warriors in their quest to recover the missing Princess of Shanshiire.  Kishandren is my favorite character, so I’m really pleased she honoured Amuletts through cosplay!

Guest Strip at Union of Heroes

Ancire – the creator of Union of Heroes – became my nemesis during the Webcomic Planet WAR! Then we both joined the Webcomic Planet Collective at which point we put our differences behind us.  And by differences I mean Amuletts.  In back-stab position. So that’s what I drew when he asked for a guest strip.

Promo Amuletts & My Birthday

amulettswebI was asked to whip up promotional images of my characters by the WCPC, so here’s the first one of Amuletts.

As some of you will know it was my Birthday yesterday.  I had a lovely day and went to see the new Star Trek movie.  I got

meanddick

some nice presents, amongst them a Lil’ Richard Plushie!  Richard is a character from one of my favorite webcomics: Looking For Group.

Side by side it’s hard to work out which one of us is more evil, isn’t it?
