Pg 17: Too much Justice

Much to Tinuvielles discomfort Amuletts continues to be intensely affectionate and rather flirtatious. She attempts to politely get away but Amuletts pursues her to ‘see her off.’ The rest of the party consider what the group ought to be called. Dirk, being a Paladin, wants a name with ‘Justice’ in, but every name he suggests has already been used.

I’m not sure whether I’ve mentioned this before but Amuletts is a person who enjoys testing boundaries, and this is what she is doing with Tinuvielle here.

The pose taken by Clodin, Dirk and Martin is parodying a famous picture of The Justice League Unlimited. Dirk is in the position of Superman, Martin Spiderman, and Clodin Wonder Woman! I hope that gives you all a chuckle.

Fathers for Justice (or Fathers 4 Justice as Google reliably informs me) is a Fathers’ Rights organisation famous for its high-publicity stunts whilst dressed as super heroes.

Pg 15: Victory Dance

Amuletts takes Clodins bribe to vote for him, making him the new party leader.  The delighted dwarf taunts Martin then does a victory dance concluding in the moon walk, complete with crotch grab!

In a role-play game the player just says “I do a victory dance.”  There’s a lot to be said for a visual!

Yes – I need to turn that last frame into an animated gif.

Pg 14: The Decision

Clodin bids a gold piece for Amuletts’ vote.  Dirk is horrified.  Amuletts attempts to draw Martin into a bidding war, but he refuses to co-operate, even though the position of leader is at stake.  He points out that they are best friends and and perhaps that should be of value.  As she considers the dwarf holds up a shining gold piece and grins.

Pg 13: Party Politics

This Week in Epic Fail: The party take a vote to decide who will become the leader.  They foolishly leave Amuletts with the deciding vote, who promptly asks who will bid for it.  Dirk is horrified, but Amuletts maintains she is staying true to the spirit of politics.

Creator’s Commentary: Trying to draw Amuletts rubbing her hands together was sheer hell.  You may wonder why Tinuvielle and Dirk voted the way they did.  Well, Dirk is banking on dwarves reputations for being lawful, and Tinuvielle believes she has Martin wrapped around her little finger.

Cameo at The Apple of Discord

epicfailcameo
Epic Fail just got a cameo over at The Apple of Discord. Martin seems to have found a mission that offers a reward this time!  Go and see what they’re up to.

The Apple of Discord is a really fun comic that Amuletts would completely approve.  It’s chaotic and unpredictable – you just never know what you’re going to get.  It’s experimental and full of suprises.  The recurring characters make The Apple of Discord enjoyable as a long-term read but there are plenty of random one-shots that make ‘dipping in’ rewarding.

And it seems it is their 1 year anniversary tomorrow, so Happy Birthday Apple!

Pg 11: Appreciation

This week in Epic Fail: The King decides it’s best to wrap things up quickly and calls for a final show of apprieciation.  Cue crowd of cheering fans!  Alas, this is not the kind of ‘appreciation’ Amuletts was after.  To make matters worse the group is faced with some kind of beaurocrat who states they cannot benefit from their titles unless they fill out some documents.  Tinuvielle is particularly frustrated, being desperate to leave.  The beaurocrat offers his assitance and Amuletts makes a cheap pun (she can’t afford expensive ones at this stage in the story)…  Knickers are the same as panties by the way.

And I finally finished those webcomic cameos!  Here is a list of everybody in the crowd and the comics they are (from top left to bottom right):

Matilda and Constance from A Mad Tea Party
The Whizz from Maskerman
Alfonso the Paladin from Recombobulated
Keith from Karmic Debt
Talon and Vrin (well, she has her head cut off) from The War of Winds
Future Paladin from The Best of What’s Left (TBOWL)
Lana from Spying with Lana
Patty from Galaxion (in her hat)
Lena from Sunset Grill
Haylus and Jaze from Atomic Elements
Gabriel and Falahil from Between Places
Kishandren and Kinrou from Childern of the Tiger
Zelda and Louise from Life’s a Witch
Nogi of Dungeon Legacy
Hippolyte and Cyrene of Amazoness

Fanart from Sacred Pie

epicfail_sacredpiefanart
Today I recieved this brilliant, action-packed piece of fan art from Phil Shaw of Sacred Pie. It’s of Martin, Clodin and Amuletts versus a Cave Troll. I really appreciate the attention to detail here and especially the character nuances. It’s a wonderful mix of action and humour – I only hope I can do as well when I get to the big fight scenes! At least I know who to go to for advice.

Sacred Pie is an epic science fiction webcomic. It begins with a mysterious traveller stumbling through a portal into Sid, Roonas and Bob’s living room. Following a portentous demand involving the fate of the universe, he disintegrates on their carpet leaving a stain and several artifacts.

It’s the story of ordinary guys turned super-heroes with resemblances to Star Wars and The Last Starfighter. The art inproves as the story progresses with some experimentation along the way. There’s a lot going on which can be hard to keep track of sometimes, but if you are looking for variety and a comic that doesn’t take itself too seriously this is the perfect read.

Fanart from Spying with Lana

martin I just got this fabulous piece of fanart from Sean Harrington of Spying with Lana. It’s of Martin, with his shirt off, looking extremely buff and attractive – as indeed he should! It’s nice for him to get the chance to show his muscles off as they are usually hidden by his armor.

Inked in black & white with red as an accent colour Spying with Lana is a titillating action webcomic with a hint of humour. It throws you right into the middle of the plot, with storys told on a case-by-case basis, generally involving sexy Lana getting naked along the way! The comics are grouped as a storyline per page so they are easy to read by scrolling down. So far they seem pretty stand-alone so this is easy to get into. You should definately check it out.

Pg 9: This isn’t the argument you’re looking for

This week in Epic Fail: Amuletts, exasperated by Clodins stubbornness, laments that Martin paid her so little. Hearing this the dwarf is even more outraged. Amuletts realises she has hit a brick wall and, growing impatient, uses the force magic to manipulate him.  It works.  Clodin accepts her apology,  however, Dirk is still being held by her minion, Andy Roid.  She thinks it is funny, but agrees to order his release after Tinuvielle threatens her.  Tinuvielle is most embarrassed to discover Amuletts finds her ‘cute.’

Creator’s Commentary: So now you’ve been introduced the main abilities Amuletts receives from her God, Loki.  She can produce fire and use a minor charm spell (like the Force magic can have a strong influence on the weak-minded).   These mimic abilities the deity himself has, but are far less powerful.  Unlike normal spells they require no preparation and are used at will, so she tends to throw them off rather casually.

Pg 8: How can you be deaf with ears like that?

This week in Epic Fail: Amuletts, in an act of friendship, explains to Martin that he should expect her to try and cheat him.  (If she hitherto succeeds Amuletts will consider Martin responsible since he was warned but let her do it anyway).  Unfortunately, with a mix of subtlety and a word of over three syllables, she merely manages to confuse him.star_trek_huge_ears

She offers Clodin a rather glib apology which only in angers him further.  Finally, the irate dwarf feigns deafness.

Creator’s Commentary: The title for this page is a quote from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. Look, I took a screen capture of the alien Dr.McCoy was referring to.  Yep – them’s some huge ears!  Anyway, I used it in this instance to poke a little fun at my own cartoon style.  I tend to, shall we say, exaggerate ears a bit.
